The tracklisting for Eminem's new album "Relapse" leaked online today. The album doesn't drop until May 19th but I thought it might be fun to guess what the songs might sound like based solely on the titles and Eminem's previous material. What are the songs about? How do they sound? What other Eminem songs might they compare to? Let's get it started in here (no Black Eyed Peas).
1. "Dr. West (Skit)" - 1:29
Wake up Mr. West, Mr. West? Could Kanye be leading off Eminem's "Relapse" with a brief "Gay Fish" rendition? Nah...not likely. This will obviously be a "doctor" talking about Eminem's need for prescription pills. I guarantee you it won't be as exciting as "children should not partake in the listening of this album with laces in their shoes."
2. "3am" - 5:20
We've heard this. I promise y'all...I'm REALLY trying to like this song...it isn't working.
3. "My Mom" - 5:20
I can't wait to hear this song. Why? Because if it's actually about Eminem's mom it might make "KIM" look like a church hymn. My favourite line from Eminem about his mom:
"which is it bitch Mrs. Briggs or Ms. Mathers?/It doesn't matter, your attorney Fred Gibson's a faggot." The "Fred Gibson" portion of the lyric was actually edited out on the album version. You learn somethin' new everyday.
4. "Insane" - 3:01
"Crazy insane or insane crazy? When I say Hussein you say Shady." I assume this song will have some sort of frantic beat while Em rips the track to shreds. It'll probably be a straight spitter...at least that's my guess.
5. "Bagpipes From Baghdad" - 4:43
I think this song is gonna go one of two ways. It'll either be a serious look at America's current involvement in the wars around the globe...or it's gonna be Eminem rapping in the Triumph The Insult Comic Dog voice over some quirky, cartoon'ish beat. I am REALLY looking forward to hearing this but I just have a bad feeling about the final results based on the title. Eminem's off drugs, right? How the hell did he come up with that title then? haha.
6. "Hello" - 4:08
I don't know why but this one is just screaming introspective, serious song to me. Maybe Eminem asking "Hello? Is anyone there?"...actually that's the makings of a pretty good hook right there. This one screams somber to me.
7. "Tonya (Skit)" - 0:43
I'm betting this is a skit centered around a fictional patient Eminem is in rehab with...either that or Eminem met a chick named Tonya.
8. "Same Song & Dance" - 4:08
Here it is...Eminem's mock "Crank Dat" track. Seriously...I think this is gonna be some tongue in cheek club track where Eminem throws his hat in (mockingly of course) to the synchronized dance fad. Think "Square Dance." Clubby but still lyrically on point.
9. "We Made You" - 4:30
I wonder what this one is all about?
10. "Medicine Ball" - 3:57
The track where Eminem addresses his weight gain and weight loss? haha...nah. Likely on a serious note with this one probably full of references to Vicodin and Percocet...either that or it's one of those tracks in line with "Drug Ballad" or "Cum On Everybody" where it's like a party track that encourages people to OD on shrooms.
11. "Paul (Skit)" - 0:19
"Em the label has some problems with some of the lyrics."
12. "Stay Wide Awake" - 5:20
Am I the only one who can kinda already hear this one? A tension filled beat that builds slowly as Shady spits showing why he's one of the best to ever do it. The title of this one just screams "one of the best songs on the album."
13. "Old Time's Sake" Feat. Dr. Dre - 4:35
It's Dr. Dre. It's Eminem. It's gonna be dope.
14. "Must Be The Ganja" - 4:03
I'm sorry...Ganja? Yikes...I don't know about this one. I never meant to give you ganja girl? I never meant to let you in my world? This one has me stumped. I'm guessing it's about doing certain things you might regret when you're high?
15. "Mr. Mathers" - 0:42
The official tracklisting doesn't say that it's a skit so we're probably looking at a brief intro leading into the next cut featuring the dopest Dr. Dre beat on the album which we only get to hear for :42 seconds haha.
16. "Deja Vu" - 4:43
This is probably a concept cut with Em telling a compelling story like on "3am" but each verse tells the story from a different angle? Maybe? Yes? No? That's my best guess.
17. "Beautiful" - 6:32
We found out today that "Beautiful" would actually be released as a single prior to the full album release on the 19th. I'm cautious about any single called "Beautiful" because it gives you the feeling that it might actually feature Em singing as opposed to rapping. Did you already forget about "Hailie's Song?" I can't front though 'cause I dug "Hailie's Song"...but a 6 minute plus single? We'll see.
18. "Crack A Bottle" Feat. Dr. Dre & 50 Cent - 4:58
You've heard this...cool track...50 ruined the ending...moving on.
19. "Steve Berman (Skit)" - 1:29
"Em it's Steve. We need the album turned in next week. I hope everything is going ok in rehab."
20. "Underground/Ken Kaniff" - 6:19
I was getting worried that "Ken Kaniff" wouldn't be on the album. "Ken Kaniff" > "The Mad Rapper." The "Underground" song title is cool and should be a teaser as to what we can expect on "Relapse 2."

i was loving this post until i saw the comment u made about 50's verse on crack a bottle. im not a stan, but i was mad because his verse on that song was actually dope as hell! check the flow hater "its bottle after bottle money aint a thing when u party wit me" "im the napalm the bomb the don im king kong get rode on and rept on" .
on the other hand, thanx for the post ! i enjoyed reading them.. tracks im rly siked about: my mom, insane, beautufil (hope its about hailie)
i wish he raps bout kim again

Man you know this album is going to be awful when every song title reminds you of another song that has already been made. I pretty much agree with every explanation you came up with here, but if your right about your saying it means Eminem will just rehash the same old ideas and make a boring, predicable album. His old songs are amazing, but he'll never repeat them. He needs fresh ideas. Or else, we're all going to hear all these tracks and be saying; "Man, I miss the old Eminem."

The comparisons weren't intended to be a negative thing...I actually think there will be some fresh shit on the album
