I can't believe it. BET did something right. The network released a statement to AllHipHop apologizing for the Lil' Wayne performance featuring Drake and other Young Money artists at the 2009 BET Awards.
“BET Networks deeply regrets the performance by Young Money at the BET AWARDS ’09 (featuring Lil Wayne, Drake, Gudda Gudda and Mack Maine),” a BET representative told AllHipHop.com exclusively. “Elements of the performance were unplanned and should not have happened.”
The backlash about the performance was a result of Lil' Wayne and guests performing the song "Every Girl" with underage girls on the stage including Lil' Wayne's daughter. The hook of the songs goes "I wish I could fuck every girl in the world."
The 2009 BET Awards was intended to be a tribute to Michael Jackson but received harsh criticism for its execution although the show did huge ratings numbers.
