Here's the story according to TMZ. Music legend Paul Anka is claiming Michael Jackson's new single "This Is It" is a rip-off of a song by artist Safire called "I Never Heard" recorded in 1990.
Anka says he wrote "I Never Heard" with Jackson in 1983. He says Jackson recorded the song for Anka's duets album "Walk A Fine Line." Anka alleges Jackson took the demo of the recording from his studio, made a copy of it and then gave the demo back to Anka after legal action was threatened. Anka is now claiming Sony has released the demo recording of "I Never Heard", retitling it "This Is It." After it appeared Jackson wasn't using the song, Anka gave it to an artist named Safire.
