Creativity and (most) Hip-Hop blogs go together like tuna and apple sauce (I've never actually tried that so if it tastes good, it kinda fucks up my whole thing). There are certain types of posts on Hip-Hop blogs that you will see EVERY week. I mean, without fail, these posts will be on 95% of the blogs. I'm guilty of creating these posts myself here or there but I like to think I'm a little more creative...I mean...I once did a post called The Top 5 Most Hip-Hop Moments on Full House...fuck wit ya boy.
ON THE SET PHOTOS
Few things in life are more interesting than watching rappers stand around with their arms around each other:
The only thing I hate more than "on the set photos" posts is GOTYE's "Somebody That I Used To Know"...well the hook is cool:
Usually these on the set photos show rappers making hand movements in front of a green screen because so few of them have big enough label budgets to actually fly anywhere to film a real video:
For some reason, blogs think we find this interesting.
(INSERT RANDOM DJ NAME HERE) INTERVIEWS (INSERT RANDOM ARTIST HERE)
DJs in 2012 are more popular than artists. Needless to say, DJs interviewing artists isn't quite the same as it used to be since the stars are the ones asking the questions...but that doesn't stop the blogs from posting these (usually) very boring interviews. And if the interviews aren't boring, the DJ is usually asking the same questions over and over again...I mean Yelawolf, can you please tell us about your beef with Machine Gun Kelly again?:
BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEOS
Somewhere along the way, rappers stopped releasing their videos as one artistic piece and instead started breaking them into 24 installments of behind-the-scenes videos...I mean shit, Justin Bieber basically released his whole "Boyfriend" video in 30 second increments over the course of 2 months. Pick (most) any blog on a weekly basis and you'll find Behind-The-Scenes videos:
Many times, the blog will post the behind-the-scenes video followed by the full video 16 minutes later. Do we really need these behind-the-scenes posts? It's pretty much people with more money than you laughing and having fun as you watch the behind-the-scenes vid from your shitty 9-5. How is this inspiring? Can we not just wait for the full video? It drops in 10 minutes:
SHITTY FREESTYLES OVER THE WEEK'S MOST POPULAR BEAT
Some Hip-Hop blogs are creative and unique...most are not. And few Hip-Hop blogs will pass up a chance to post a rapper's freestyle over whatever beat is hot that week. I mean literally, if someone sneezes on Chief Keef's "I Don't Like" most blogs will post it...even if that blog says Chief Keef is wack...I mean he is but let's not fuck up our ad money:
The ironic thing about these "freestyles", is that they aren't real Hip-Hop freestyles...then again, most Hip-Hop blogs aren't real Hip-Hop blogs so it really works out in the end.
ANYTHING BY MAYBACH MUSIC GROUP
I'm waiting for the post "Rick Ross Goes To The Grocery Store, Buys Sticks Of Butter." Maybach Music Group is the hot Hip-Hop name/label of the moment. I'm guilty of posting most MMG material without a blink of an eye too...well except Wale, 'cause he sucks...like really bad. On any given week, you'll see countless MMG posts across the wide variety of Hip-Hop blogs...even stuff like Rick Ross goes to a basketball game:
Ironically, MMG's latest signing Rockie Fresh couldn't crack half of these blogs a few months ago and now Ricky agrees to share his KFC bucket with him and all of a sudden he's "that dude"...SMH.
