Report: XXL Magazine Is Shutting Down

According to reports, XXL Magazine is very close to shutting down. Word is the magazine has struggled to bring in new readers over the past few years and is having a hard time staying afloat.

Harris Publications (parent company of XXL) is considering shutting down both the print magazine and online operations by year's end.

XXL employees have fired back to the reports saying that things are stable at the publication.

So what's the deal? It's hard to argue that the quality of XXL didn't decline drastically once YN left and you'll notice a much thinner mag these days, an indicator of slagging ad sales. Also, RESPECT mag claiming a nice place for itself on newsstands hasn't helped the mag either.

Meek Mill Comments on Rick Ross/Young Jeezy Brawl

MMG member Meek Mill is speaking out on the brawl that went down between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy at this weekend's BET Hip-Hop Awards. Well, he's actually speaking out on all the violence that went down...and he makes a good point:

BET Releases Statement on Violence at 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards

A rep for BET released the following statement to TMZ on last night's violence at the BET Hip-Hop Awards involving 50 Cent's entourage, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and Gunplay:

"BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."

Last night at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, MMG's Gunplay was jumped by 5 members of 50 Cent's crew. As you'll see in the video above, Gunplay drops one of his attackers before being pepper sprayed by security. Reports say that Gunplay then ran to 2 Chainz trailer where police eventually arrested him.

Latest on Rick Ross and Young Jeezy's Fight At The BET Hip-Hop Awards; Police Release A Statement

Last night at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Young Jeezy and Rick Ross clashed.

According to TMZ, Ross and Jeezy exchanged words backstage and there was some shoving between the two. Word is the altercation was broken up however it has been reported that a member of Ross's entourage pulled a gun in the parking lot and shots were fired.

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department tells TMZ, "Shortly after 7:15 pm Saturday, a fight broke out in the parking lot at the Atlanta Civic Center (where the BET Awards were being taped) between two groups. Atlanta Police Department officers on scene responded to break up the fight and used OC spray in the process. Individuals fled the scene. There were no arrests or reports of serious injuries. Reports of shots fired appear to be untrue."

TMZ says its source stands by the fact that shots were fired.

Kanye West Sued Over "Misused" Samples

Billboard reports that Kanye West is being sued over "misused" samples that appear on his 2010 album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy."

The lawsuit was brought forth by label TufAmerica, who claim that Kanye's songs "Who Will Survive In America?" and "Lost In The World" contain misused samples from Eddie Bo’s 1969 single, “Hook and Sling, Part 1″:

TufAmerica owns the rights to the song and say that although Kanye's label paid the $62,500 licensing fee, they "failed and refused to enter into written license agreements that accounted for their multiple other uses of ['Hook and Sling']."

The company is seeking undisclosed damages.
