In a brief interview with HipHopWired, the toast of the town Kendrick Lamar spoke on a variety of topics including the 'classic' label some people are putting on his debut album, first week sales and his feelings on comments Shyne made about his major label debut.
KENDRICK ON THE 'CLASSIC' LABEL
"The attention and great reception it's been getting... it's overwhelming. People are labeling this a classic even without the years behind it so it's a great feeling...it's classic worthy, you know? But it has to stand with the time and have the years behind it."
KENDRICK ON FIRST WEEK SALES
"It feels great, lets me know that people still wanna' hear good music, real music. Music that has a connection, rather than just one artist, or one record on the radio."
KENDRICK ON SHYNE
"It's really no response [to him]...I'm not a sensitive guy, so that's his opinion. Can't stop what the world thinks, so yeah, that's him."
